Cup Defeat at local rivals

Oldland Reserves bowed out of the Bristol Combination League Cup at Premier Division neighbours Boco in a match that was played in a good spirits under crisp conditions and in front of a healthy crowd. Boco never looked in trouble but The O's missing Callum Winstone from his usual central midfield role and Danny Carter who started for the first team also handed a debut to new signing Kai England, competed until the end making for a decent afternoon out in the sun (San Miguel on draught helped too).

Both sides started well and wanted to play football but 38 year-old former Oldland player Scott Woodman was the first half difference between the sides running the show and setting up colleagues with almost every touch in the first half hour. O's had a couple of chances, Ricky Godwin pulled one decent chance wide before Boco took the lead. In the second half, Oldland had chances to level and 47 year-old former Oldland keeper Chris Thompson showed that positioning is king with two worldy stops, despite having his eyes closed and looking well beaten.......... Boco though scored a well taken second goal mid way through the half and ended as the victors.

Some good performances from our guys, England in particular looked impressive on his debut having not played for a while and 17 year-old Brad Lewis took his chance well when coming off the bench having been disappointed to be rested. It's fair to say that keeper olly Fowler deserved man of ther match for a hard workiong afternoon. Oldland can take heart from a good showing against a decent higher level side as they head into Saturday's clash at Bitton.
