Our Reserves went out of the main Frys Cup at the first attempt losing to a very good Almondsbury XI
Dean and Weeksy went with a new look squad after the summer overhaul. Ollie Fowler in goal had Jordan Richards and Ash Bernard in front of him with the full backs being Marcus Wilbrahim (DRG) and Charlie Brain (The Dolphin) coming in. In midfield, first team squad member Gary Shorney gained some valuable match time alongside Callum Winstone back from a knee operation with Ricky Godwin (Kingswood) and Jason Worlock out wide. In attach we had Luke Pitt (Frys) and 16 year old "Tammy" Tekano recently released from Bristol Rovers - and at the moment playing for the U18s, Firsts and Reserves - it's okay, he's young!
Oldland struggled to contain Almondsbury in the first half and were being given a very good game. They got better in the second half when substitutes Alex Robertson and Brad Lewis (from the 18s) impressed as did Callum Hinder who scored a late consolation goal. Oldland had other unused subs including Mike (Chief) Bristow and Josh Brown so hopefully the full squad can gain some minutes in later games.
Onto to the Frys Shield next - Wednesday at 6.15 against Old Sodbury
