A young looking Oldland reserve side took to the field against their strong opposition and by the half hour mark, had been blown away, almost literally too. With a swirling wind making good football difficult, the O's initially struggled and conceded three times on 7 mins, 16 mins and 27 mins, the pick of which was the first goal, a top corner finish.
The value of a goal right on half time was proved as Connor Davies pulled one back two minutes before the break but on the hour, Mendip restored their three goal lead to make it 4-1. Connor then hit the goal of the match on 73 minutes before completing his hat trick with five minutes remaining to make it 4-3.
But despite three minutes of stoppage time, Oldland couldn't equalise and the youngsters go out of the competition with their heads held high. Ten of tonight's squad were twenty and under, five of them were just sixteen, and they can go into this season's fixtures knowing they can compete with a decent men's team.
Well done lads!
