A spectacular late winner from centre half Mike Connor saw Oldland reach the quarter finals of the Fry's Cup with a 4-3 win over Ashton & Backwell.

Connor's long range strike with four minutes left completed a remarkable turnaround from the O's who had only levelled two minutes earlier via sub Josh Williams. In a topsy-turvy match, the O's had gone ahead through Mike Alvis but then conceded twice to fall behind before equalising after Ashton were reduced to ten men. Ashton then took the lead from the penalty spot before the late drama that saw the O's set up a quarter final against host side Fry Club on Thursday.

Playing up the slope in the first half, Oldland took the lead on nine minutes when Mike Alvis' shot was too hot for the keeper to handle on his near post. On 27 minutes, Ashton equalised after a through ball to their striker saw him lob keeper Ryan Perry.

Alvis nearly gave the O's the lead with a searing drive that went over the crossbar but Ashton took the advantage with a long range effort that went in off the post on 54 minutes. Ashton then pressed the self destruct button when their striker was sent off for a horrible lunge at Perry as he cleared the ball, and rightly saw red for the challenge.

O's levelled on 66 minutes when Jordan Greenwood scored from a corner and as the match opened up, sub Tommy Hutton blasted a volley straight at the keeper when a yard either side would have resulted in a goal. However within two minutes, Ashton were ahead again when the referee awarded a penalty; Perry unlucky not to stop the kick with his feet as he dived.

Manager Dale Dempsey then produced a managerial stroke of genius as he threw on young sub Josh Williams. Going forward in attack, Williams got on the end of a Josh Bennett cross to score with his first touch of the ball. And the incredible comeback was completed on 86 minutes when after a corner was only partially cleared, Mike Connor hit an absolute pearler into the corner of the net for a memorable winner.

Goals: Alvis (9 min), Greenwood (66 min), Williams (84 min), Connors (86 min)
