An 11th minute goal from Scott Robson was enough to give Oldland their first win in six attempts against Chippenham Park today.

Robson's strike, latching on to a Jordan Greenwood through ball, was his first of the season but the midfielder's match ended early after being shown a second yellow card with six minutes to go. The score stayed the same though and Oldland's defence held out for only their second league clean sheet all season.

O's kicked up the slope in the first half and it was their keeper Jamie Powell who was called into action first as he saved from Mark Robinson. The Chippenham striker looked lively all afternoon, looking to add to his twenty goals this campaign including two successive hat tricks recently.

It was the O's who took the lead on eleven minutes when Jordan Greenwood's long ball through found Scott Robson and he tucked the ball home. He then turned architect, setting Paul Coles away and the striker's cross found Josh Williams but the youngster's shot was blocked.

Teenager Asher Budd wasn't far away from putting Oldland further ahead but the ball from Williams was fractionally behind him and he couldn't get a decent contact on it. Robinson and then strike partner Will Giles forced a double save from Powell before Robinson then glanced a header wide at the near post and Aaron Ledgister tested Powell with a shot that the keeper dealt with well.

Williams hit a half volley that rookie keeper Dan Price saved but the chances either side of the break were falling mainly to the visitors. Giles was inches wide with a header and Ledgister's rasping volley flew over the bar.

On the hour, Coles disposessed a Park defender but Price blocked his effort well, good keeping from a centre half that was playing in goal. He had to rely on a team mate to clear Greenwood's volley off the line on 65 minutes.

O's manager Dale Dempsey made his first change with twenty minutes left, Budd being replaced by Jack Parker. Robson was shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away, a costly decision given what was to come later. Chippenham were still creating more chances than the hosts and they had a header cleared off the line as well as a Charlie Norman effort that went wide.

Robson then committed a foul on 84 minutes and was shown a second yellow and then red, leaving Oldland to play out the last six minutes plus five minutes stoppage time with ten men. Powell again saved well from Matthew Coote late on and sub Parker, through in a one-on-one with the keeper, beat Price but lifted his shot over the bar too.

Price was coming up for corners and free kicks as the game closed and actually met one delivery with a firm header which Powell saved. It was the last chance in a game that will be remembered for the three points and not much else. But there is no such thing as a bad win and clean sheets are always a welcome boost too.

Next week, the lads travel down to Wells City and having completed the double over Park today, they will be confident about achieving another one next weekend in mid Somerset.
