The visitors had the clearer of the chances but either put them wide or found Ryan Perry in good form but a draw was the least the O's deserved from the stalemate.
Oldland had two half chances early on but Paul Comley's left foot volley and Lucas Hart's shot both flew over the bar. Chard then came more into the game and striker Sam Clark twice went close to giving his side the lead but found his lunge for the ball left him an inch short, leading to both efforts going wide.
Leigh Bailey sliced wide before Clark scored with a header, only to find that the assistant referee's flag had gone up for offside a moment earlier. Jason Side also curled an effort over in a first half that also saw Chard's Ed Butcher hit a weak shot at Perry in the O's goal.
The second half was a more open affair and Perry saved smartly from Bailey's close range shot with Tom Smallman clearing the rebound away from the goal line. Clark then cracked a shot against the bar as Chard threatened to take the lead but it wasn't all one way traffic. Haydn Conlan twice found himself free on the right but on both occasions, hit his shot a foot wide.
Hart had two more opportunities to give O's the lead before Tom Hutton hit a peach of a shot from miles out, a real "Goal of the Season" contender, that narrowly went wide. Oscar Latas wasted a late chance for Chard from ten yards out and his team mate Clark also fired wide in stoppage time. But it would have been harsh on an Oldland side that deserved a share of the spoils today.
