Oldland ended a run of nineteen games without a win with a 3-0 victory at local rivals Keynsham Town.

In a dour game between two lowly sides, the O's took the lead right on half time through Joe Galsworthy and added further goals after the break from Tom Smallman and Tom Shopland to complete their first victory sice October 15th and their first clean sheet since September 14th!

Played on the flat, true artificial Keynsham pitch and in bright sunshine, the promise was there for a good game between two sides needing the points. Pat Davison was well wide with a chance early on for the home side but the rest of the half was largely devoid of real goalmouth action.

Joe Galsworthy over ran the ball on 13 minutes and his effort was smothered by home keeper Matt Dunk. The Oldland attacker then saw his cross shot land on the roof of the net before his persistence eventually paid dividends in the final minute of the first half. The ball was flicked on to Galsworthy who finished confidently into the net.

They say the best time to score is right on half time and the goal gave O's something to build on in the second period. After the best move of the match involving half the Oldland team, Galsworthy headed over then shot wide with a rasping left foot shot. Ryan Ashwood went close for the K's with a curling free kick over the crossbar.

Josh Dempsey went off to be replaced by Tom Hutton and the top scorer immediately set up Ryan Nicholls who fired over on the angle. But O's doubled their lead on 73 minutes with a pearler of a goal. Tom Smallman found himself in an advanced position and the right back hit a peach of a strike into the corner of the net and was then buried under his team mates in celebration.

Ex-Oldland defender Seb Spiller shot way over from long distance in a rare chance for a Keynsham side who then conceded in the final moments. A quick corner was laid back for Hutton to put in a tempting cross that Tom Shopland flicked home for 3-0 and the match.

Pleasing to see the scenes of joy among the Oldland players and staff after the game and with Wellington and Westbury ahead in the next seven days, there is optimism in the camp now for a better end to the season.
