Two own goals in three minutes from the unfortunate Tom Hutton gave the table toppers the advantage and when Tom Welch added a third on the half hour mark, it looked ominously like a hiding might be on the cards.
But after Oldland had scored twice either side of Bradford scoring their fourth, they put up a real fight and although Dan Fowler made it 5-2 on the hour, the O's had the last word scoring through Mark Pocock late on to end the season with a creditable showing.
Captained by 17-year-old defender Calum Winstone, Oldland chose to play with the wind in the first half and looked the more likely to score in the first twenty minutes. Tom Smallman volleyed way over the bar but was much more accurate on eighteen minutes, his corner having to be tipped away desperately by home keeper Lewis Porter as it was going in at the back post. Porter then gathered Hutton's follow-up shot safely.
Just as it seemed Oldland were coping with an attack that had scored 135 league goals in the campaign, a nightmare six minute spell saw them concede three goals. Hutton turned the ball back to keeper Ryan Perry but somehow the pass found its away into the Oldland net. Within two minutes, striker Sam Jordan's shot hit the post and rebounded off the unlucky Hutton and into the net for number two. The third goal came just after the half hour mark as Tom Welch slipped the ball into the corner of the net.
As the half closed, there was another flurry of goals but this time, the O's contributed. Pulling a goal back with a close range finish on 38 minutes, Steve Hulbert headed in at the far post to regain Bradford's three goal advantage but within a minute, Tom Smallman's corner was headed home to make the interval score 4-2.
O's had the brighter of the early second half exchanges but Lucas Hart and Mark Pocock's shots were off target. They were made to pay for that inaccuracy when Dan Fowler chipped the ball over keeper Perry and Hutton on the line to make it 5-2.
Fowler, scenting goal, then tried chipping Perry but the O's keeper denied him before both Hutton and Jordan Greenwood had chances at the other end in this entertaining game.
Sam Jordan, looking for his landmark 60th league goal and 75th strike in all competitions, thought he had scored five minutes from time but his delicate nudge past Perry was kept out by the keeper. A minute later, Pocock finished for the O's at close range and O's could even have had a fourth when Greenwood's header came even closer to going in, Porter making a great save.
