After conceding seventeen goals in their last two matches, Portishead acted quickly after manager Lee Ballard resigned last weekend. Former Wales boss Bobby Gould, who lives locally, was in the dug out this afternoon having agreed to work with the club.
Oldland had the ball in the net in the third minute but the goal, from Miles Allen, was chalked off as the ball ran out of play before it was crossed in.
Portishead opened the scoring on eighteen minutes and Oldland went close on two occasions before the struggling home side doubled their lead on 42 minutes with a screamer from 25 yards out.
At half time, Oldland brought on Tom Hutton and Jordan Hawkins for Jordan Davies and Fernando Dias and Hawkins was involved in the first reply. His ball in from the left was met by Ben Harris but his shot hit the post and rebounded off a Portishead defender attempting to clear it.
This was the cue for Oldland to change up a gear and after Wayne Pearce replaced Mark Leigh, the striker twice went close to levelling. Then, with 84 minutes on the clock, Tom Morgan pulled s short corner back to Hutton who took a touch before unleashing a screamer into the far corner.
