The O's began the game in fine fettle and Jerome Ingram had two good chances to give them the lead inside the first five minutes. Ryan Day then headed a Tom Hutton corner over before Hutton himself sidefooted an effort over the angle of post and crossbar.
The O's had a fair shout for a penalty on twelve minutes when a Cheddar defender miskicked a clearance and the ball came off his hand. Then, three minutes later, Fernando Dias hit a left foot shot that deflected off a defender and bounced on top of the crossbar.
Jordan Davies hit a shot that the keeper spilled to safety and Hutton (pictured) then shot wide after Dias set him up. Seven chances at one end, nothing at the other but as so often happens, the side under the cosh broke away to score and Ham grabbed his first with a low direct free kick on 27 minutes.
Day then put in a last ditch block to stop a Cheddar attacker shooting and Davies headed a Cheddar header off the line but still O's were the better side. Hutton volleyed over and Mark Leigh fired over late in the first half.
The second period saw Ham's shot saved by Perry before the lively home attacker then went closer still with a shot that was inches wide. Leigh, Hutton and sub Danny Carter all went close before once again, O's were caught on the break. It was Ham again who chipped Ryan Perry from an acute angle and although the keeper got a hand to it, he couldn's stop it going in.
Hutton and Ham exchanged late chances but O's will make the drive home tonight rueing the loss considering they had a dozen chances to score but never really tested the home keeper that much.
