Bernie The Bolt has Bolted ! (Most of you are too young to remember that TV saying)

Oldland are sad to announce that experienced defender Ashley Bernard has decided to leave the club.

Ash has been an extremely popular player for a number of years since arriving from park football and initially playing under (then) Reserves manager Bob Clarke and current assistant, Millie.

A steady and reliable performer over a number of years, Ash would often be called up to stand in at first team level flitting in and out on many occasions over the years. Around three seasons ago however, during Dale Dempsey's time he broke into the first team at the start of the season and made a starting place his own. From that time onwards he was one of our most consistent and compotent defenders, retaining his place on merit including winning one player of the year award. With injuries and work absences limiting his opportunities, Ash now realises that his future opportunities under the new look first team squad will be limited and with one eye on continuing to play he has decided to drop back into local football, alongside dual registration forms for Toolstation League Longwell Green when work commitments allow.

We would like to place on record our thanks to Ashley for his performances and loyalty over the years and wish him all the very best for the future. He will always be welcome at the club.
