Appointment announced

In a summer of changes, Youth Chairman Phil Jones stood down from his role following the AGM. Although not here quite as long as Reg, Phil's achievements include being involved in the club from his children's ages as players from 7 into adulthood (one son manages the Colts and another son plays) most of them as Chairman, being a driving force behind the Deerswood merger with Oldland Abbotonians to strengthen our junior section and numerous tireless years organising on and off site youth tournaments with Tom and Tracie as well as the annual charity match.

Unlike Reg, it was not age and health that has caused him to step back but the fact that he reguarly has to travel abroad and is not around as much as he would like.............(tenerife, majorca, egypt!). We also wish him well in his new role as the face of Megabus and hosting Mock The Week. Seriously though, well done Phil and thanks for everything, we will we know still see you around the club supporting Sam and Mitch and helping behind the bar and wish you aall the best (9.00 for nets on Saturdays, mind).

The role of Youth Chairman has now been taken up by club sponsor Len Wright of Wright Minimix Limited who will be assisted by youth coach Tom Hutton. Len's role will involve continuing the plans to bring the youth and adult section into one strong unit on and off the field and also to hopefully oversee some additional structural improvements to the main clubhouse building and surrounding areas. He has moved swiftly, already organising a sweep back of the encroaching greenery around the wider club field area and relocation of one of the junior lockups containing their goalposts amnd equipment to free up more car parking.

Along with senior club chairman Derek Jones and accountant Paul Bray, Len is part of the team looking into the possibility of additional funding claims and extending the club house outwards, providing new outside toilets whilst continuing with the improvements inside as the club looks to continue to grow and make it atractive for the young players to want to stay and progress into adult football with us. With over 1,000 members we have every right to be excited about the future.

The club committee wish Len and Tom every success and looks forward to working with them.
