Great game to watch

New look Oldland threw away a well earned lead after coming from behind to end up with just a point from an entertaining game at Norton Lane.

The draw leaves The O's fifth in the very early table and there are encouraging signs for the future with a full squad and five players able to be rested and injured Jason Godwin likely to be out for the whole season.

With joint manager Dean Winstone away, first team assistant Ian Milton lent a hand to boss Andy Weeks with Tim Brain on bucket duty. The O's started in a 3-5-2 formation with Mike Bristow, Jordan Richards and Rhys Hodge in front of keeper Olly Fowler who was selected over Olly Player as number one. The midfield three were Callum Winstone, Lewis Parker who had missed a couple of weeks and Brett Richards with Jason Worlock and Ricky Godwin the wide positions. Danny Carter and Louis Rostron continued up front.

A game that was always end to end and great to watch saw Oldland go begind on 35 minutes as a free kick was weakly headed across their own box and a De Veys forward fired home. Chief and Worlock were being over run down the right so on half time they went 4-4-2 with Rhys Hodge coming off for Jacob Wherry-Alumi.

On 62 minutes Danny Carter was penned in like a sheep on One Man and His Dog in the right hand corner, but turned and beat three players before crossing, Louis Rostro headed home from close range. Five minutes later Jason Worlock picked the ball up wide left and cut inside two defenders with great pace and strength firing the ball across the keeper into the bottom right corner to make it 2-1. De Veys weren't done, once again the Oldland defence not clearing and the lose ball was again fired home on 75 minutes for an equaliser but almost immediately Worlock given a ew lease of life after the formation change shot from outside the box with the keeper off his line, despite a handball from a defender he couldn't prevent it going in and Oldland were 3-2 up.

The game wasn't done though, Oldland won a penalty for handball and with Worlock on a hat trick he was handed the ball but blasted it straight at the keeper. Still in shock, the O's seened to freeze and literally from the clearance De Veys strode forward and equalised again. After being behind, 3-3 was a fair result although Oldland could count themselves unlucky not to have won.
