OLDLANDS RUNNERS UP DREAMS LEFT IN TATTERS.

A disappointing display by Oldland last week saw them well beaten by rivals AEK Boco who themselves clinched the runners up spot from Oldland in the process.

Despite having more of the ball in the first half, The Abbott's failed to really create anything of note as their passing game never got going. With their opponents being well organised, their pacy forwards were troubling Oldlands back line and they were also in a clinical mood as they scored each of the three chances that they themselves created with Oldlands closest chance coming when a cross from Danni Shiner hit the bar.
With a change in formation at half time, it was an improved performance from Oldland in the second half though in truth it was too little, too late. Captain Vicky Mundy was narrowly off target from distance while Jade Scammell couldn't quite find her range with several long range efforts.
Boco made it 4-0 on the hour mark with a clinical finish but Abbott's never gave up and to their credit, didn't allow their heads to drop as they kept trying to press forward despite things not quite clicking. Oldland did pull a goal back that they deserved for their work rate on 82 minutes when substitute Georgina Bragg thundered upfield in a run that beat several opponents. The resulting shot was going harmlessly wide but Annie Hawkins-Hoare retrieved the ball on the far side of the penalty area before cutting back into the area and smashing an unstoppable effort past the visitors keeper.
Oldland are now left to play for third place which would represent an improvement on last season's fourth position.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH----LAURA GARLICK---A busy and typically tigerish performance up and down the right flank.
