Oldland 1 Calne 1 - a better day at the office

Oldland turned in a much better performance to gain a valuable point against high riding Calne Town on Saturday. It was a good game for both sets of supporters and also one in front of a healthy crowd as new look Os start to attract attention once more. With a week off ahead of them The Os can now focus on bonding and increasing awareness of themselves in training ready to hit the ground running in their next match.

Oldland started with Luke Troke back from holiday in a left mnidfield position and Josh Williams returning to the bench after a period away. Midweek signing Christopher Hind was absent. After the opening exchanges, Calne took the lead on 40 minutes, a superb through ball between the centre halves put their striker through, he rounded Oldland keeper Chris Manns and bundled the ball home, Manns picking up a yellow card for hios efforts to stop the forward. The goal felt that it was against the run of play and Oldland deservedly equalised just before half-time, Scott Fear was gained space just inside the box and from the left slid the ball home for his second goal in two weeks.

The second half was just as equal with both sides having chances and some fussy refereeing breaking the game up. Calne hit the bar and Manns had to reach for several dangerous crosses whilst sub Josh Williams had a shot saved just inside the keepers near post. Oldland pushed for the winner with full back Joe Walters constantly playing dangerous balls down the line and into the box but the winner never came.
