Oldland had a hugely disappointing day as despite everyone's best efforts to get the game on the result never went their way and a heavy home defeat was the result
The match was surprisingly on but it was due to the hard work and effort of the groundstaff and the desire of the playing and management team to actually play some football after so many weeks off. The rain had gone off by kick off time and a heavy clogged pitch was evident from the beginning.
Oldland went a goal down early as a clearance went out wide left and then the low fizzing ball back across the box was misjudged by some confusion in the defence allowing a simple far post tap in. Although Oldland continued to try and press with Olly Trevarthen chasing everything, Lewis Parker putting in some strong tackles and Chris Manns trying to lead by encouragement it was not to be. Special mention to Courtney Charles too who has found a niche role in central midfield and has been getting stronger every week.
Further goals in the second half killed the result off and it was a massively disappointing end to the day. The O's dust themselves off and go again in the next fixture but this was a game many feel they ought to have done better in and got a result - the next match cannot come quickly enough.Come on boys !
