On a busy day for the club with the Christmas function and former player reunion, the O's got back to winning ways.

The O's side were boosted with pretty much everyone being available. Although from the match day squad Matt Ellery continued his spell on loan to get game time at Old Sodbury. Tyler Davis also missed out due to flu and O's number 2 goalkeeper Luke Wilson is struggling with a thigh injury. O's were boosted with this seasons leading goal scorer Olly Trevarthen, who took his place back in the starting 11 for this must win game. Joe Walters and Courtney Charles both came back into the starting 11 replacing Shomari Sengor and Josh Southway respectively.

The O's started well on a very wet and sticky pitch again credit to the ground staff for getting the game on. Both Strikers Sam Vile and Olly Trevarthen worked the visitors goalkeeper in the first 10 minutes. O's real first chance game after a great long forward pass from Courtney Charles found forward Olly Trevarthen who raced into the box after fending off a challenge by the defender. The O's forward decided to try and square the ball to his striker partner Sam Vile rather then go along. This was then cut out and well saved by Steve Allison with his out stretched left hand. O's next chance came after some great interlink play by the midfield and a great pass from Lewis Parker who which saw Olly Trevarthen released into the top right hand corner of the box, yet again Steve Allison pulled off a good low save and the Calne defence scrambled the ball away. Olly then had a similar chance but this time the ball fell to slightly behind the on rushing Sam Vile who somehow managed to put the ball back into the hands of the recovering goalkeeper rather then score. O's didn't have it all their own way after missing their chances Calne's Stuart Windsor had a chance of his own but O's number 1 Chris Manns produced a great save tipping the ball over the bar. Calne's Midfielder Rory Worthington also showed great feet on the edge of the box before squaring to Stuart Windsor, Chris Manns then denied him with his feet. O's did take the lead when a free kick on the edge of the box was superbly put into the box by Lewis Parker, the resultant free kick was bravely stabbed home by Courtney Charles. Courtney Charles was hurt in the process receiving a boot to the jaw however was able to continue. On 42 minutes a fair but solid challenge by both players saw play stopped briefly due to an injury to a Calne player requiring both physios to attend to the injury. Thankfully the player was ok after treatment although left the field of play unable to continue.

1-0 HT

Second half the Visitors started brightly and played some good football but the O's defence stood firm. Defender Mason Poole made a good tackle to deny a goal scoring opportunity at the last ditch. The O's could and should of increased their lead when a through ball from playmaker Josh Williams found Sam Vile who unselfishly squared the ball to Olly Trevarthen, The O's forward saw his low drive superbly saved by the visiting goalkeeper again. The O's did double their lead when a surging ball forward by midfielder Jack Metcalf saw Josh Williams break through the opposition defence. Josh Williams calmly rounded the advancing goalkeeper and rolled the ball into empty net to seal the 3 points for the O's. Calne did have one final chance just when their striker was just about to pull the trigger, defender Luke Lecrass superbly made a great goal saving tackle to protect our clean sheet.

FT 2-0

Credit to both sides today both tried to play football on a very heavy difficult pitch, also credit to the officials who managed and reffed the game well in difficult conditions. The result sees Oldland climb back up the table to 9th with 3 games in hand on most sides around them.

Man of the match could of gone to most of the side today, however it was awarded to Courtney Charles for a great game in the midfield and for his goal.

Manager Scott Armstrong added the is on the win, "It was nice to get back to winning ways after a tough couple of weeks, it was certainly a nice birthday treat as well. Credit to the lads who came into the side they produced the goods and worked hard for the side. Today it was important to get back to winning ways as pressure was mounting on us with the table being so tight at the moment. We now have a run of games to put a run together and get ourselves back in the mix."
