Ah well, we'll have to try again then......

The O's made the trip up Stockwood Lane reviving memories of our old Somerset Senior League days against Cutters in our first Toolstation derby match against The Phones but all did not go to plan. This game had been cancelled once by the league owing to Phones lights not being ready and then reinstated to the original date at late notice, now it looks like Oldland will be going back to a January date after all

Carefully negotiating the weather, the packed car park and the rugby team training alongside, the crowd packed into the standing terrace with one hell of a gale sweeping across the surface, luckily it was going across us from behind and so the stand provided welcome shelter

The game started brightly, Oldland deploying Callum Ham and Sam Makepeace out wide with Courtney Charles lining up in central defence alongside Mason Poole. Whilts The Phones played some early balls through they were judged offisde on one and Courtney Charles made a fine saving tackle to block another. Going forward Oldland also looked promising with Shomari Sengor pulling the strings, both he and Mason Poole played in our wide players who cut inside and created chances early on

The game was warming up well and the crowd were huddling together, in the sixth minute Luke Lecreass got the ball and....................... oh hang on, it's gone dark. To shouts from the crowd of "Has anybody got 50p?" The lights went, Telephones first opportunity to switch their lights on and play a midweek home game this season had been thwarted by a power issue (I blame the bloke cooking chillie in the bar, reckon he overloaded the circuit).

After taking the teams off for 15 minutes, the officials decided that it was too late for the teams to warm up again and play the game even if power was restored - match abandoned. Got to admit it was dark though, and the right decision, I half expected Amir Khan to pop out of a hole looking for snakes as we left.

Man of the Match: Courtney Charles - won every tackle, didn't put a foot wrong (and no one else touched the ball!)

(pic) Scott and Millie in the tunnel deciding whether or not they could still collect subs from the players as officially the match did start, didn't it!
