We don't like Tuesdays..............

Oldland went down last night to their first ever defeat to Chippenham Park in front of a crowd of 51 at Hardenhuish. Having generally had the upper hand over their Wiltshire opponents in recent seasons there were no complaints from the management though, acknowledging Park as "far and away the best side we have played all season, a very good footballing team"

Oldland started without suspended Jordan Greenwood and absent Lewis Parker as well as missing striker Courtney Charles who had a spell in hospital following Saturday's injury at Sherborne. Joe Walters, Shomari Sengor and Jack Metcalfe continued their recent midfield trio work with Josh Southway and Luke Lecrass operating as wingbacks. Although not fully fit, Olly Trevarthen started up front with Carter, Ellery and Poole on the bench alongside player-manager Scott Armstrong.

Park were without midfielder Jordan Coulter but had an adequate replacement in Chippenham Town player Scott Donnelly, a veteran of over 100 league and cup games for QPR, Swansea and Wycombe amongst others. For those of you who like their stats, details here: and for the even more keen a video of the 'highlights' of the game are on the link elsewhere on this site.

It wasn't a pleasant night, losing never is, and whilst manager Armstrong was unhappy, he added that "hopefully this was just a bad night and the position of fourth is still a good place to be with plenty of the season left"

Oldland went behind just before half time and then conceded another shortly afterwards, a late consolation goal from Olly Trevarthen their only crumb of reward. Another frustrating night as we didn't pick up points despite the boys best efforts. Man of the Match went to Luke Lecrass for his hard work and graft but special mention is needed of Scott Gregory who was once again superb, picked up a bloodied nose and put his body on the line with several last ditch tackles and also keeper Chris Manns with some fine saves.

We might request a break from future night matches, don't like 'em!

Man of the Match: Luke Lecrass - a really hard graft put in
