Oldland pulled a late victory out of the bag with a hard fought home win against a decent Cheddar side who passed the ball well and threatened until the end. The win takes them from fifth to third ahead of Tuesday night's game at Calne.

The game roared into life in the first minute when Courtney Charles was through on goal and brought down on the edge of the box, maybe the early period helped the defender because it appeared to be a red card offence, punished only by a free kick.

The first 20 minutes was frustrating to watch as both sides niggled and there were silly fouls all over the park together with lots of noise from the away fans. Cheddar's left back picked up an injury and despite struggling on for a few minutes had to be replaced. Oldland took the lead on 28 minutes, shortly after a Reece John corner had deceived everyone and hit the bar, a clearance came to Josh Southway who side volleyed it forward finding Josh Williams who calmly rounded the keeper and slotted home. Unfortunately though, Cheddar equalised almost immediately with a magnificent shot giving keeper Manns no chance making it one each at the break.

The start of the second half was all about skipper Jordan Greenwod, firstly a great last ditch tackle saved the day and then he picked up an odd booking on 61 minutes for tackling (not fouling) an opponent shortly after the referee had blown for something else. Five minutes later when challenging to defend a through ball he was again, harshly, judged to have handled and with the noisy Cheddar bench and crowd baying away given a second yellow. Jack Metcalf took over the captains armband for the remainder of the game (although his arms weren't big enough so he had to have it taped on - gym work Monday son!) and he had a chance from a rebound shortly afterwards but put it over.

Despite being a man down Oldland then became more dominant, Courtney Charles put through by Southway but fired over and then with the minutes counting down, Josh Southway drilled a low cross from the right which deceived everyone and went into the far bottom corner for the winner. There were claims that Courtney Charles had a touch on the way in but the goal was later confirmed as Southway's.

To be honest, a draw would have been a fairer result but we will take the win especially as it quitened the crowd up!
