An impressive start

The O's started their home league campaign with an impressive win in front of a decent crowd something they can hope to build on in future weeks.

After a close start Oldland started to press more and more with some great wing play and crosses causing danger. From just inside the right hand side of the box Olly Trevarthen whipped a ball over on 22 minutes which deceived everyone and then bounced past the keeper and in. Oldland continued to probe forward with great play from Josh Southway on the right and Luke Lecrass on the left as overlapping wing backs, Lecrass put a deep cross over on 38 minutes which Olly Trevarthen firmly volleyed into the roof of the net from close range for two nil. It wasn't all one way however and just before half time Manns had to dive down sharply to turn a Corsham shot behind for a corner.

The second half started with a couple of bookings, Southway being brought down after outpacing his opponent (no really, he did..) earning the Corsham player a caution and then Scott Gregory went into the referee's book for a sliding lunge which was more intent than contact. On 55 minutes however, Oldland and Olly Trevarthen got a third as a through ball from Courtney Charles put the O's number 9 through and he calmly slid the ball past the keeper for his hat trick.

The pace then picked up a little as Corsham had decided to go for it and push forward but were caught out by excellent performances and passing from Lewis Parker and Josh Williams in midfield in particular. Courtney Charles snatched and missed a couple of chances before a Josh Southway cross found Josh Williams at the far post on 75 minutes, he calmly brought the ball down before firing into the roof of the net, another good goal followed two minutes later by a fifth from substitute Matt Ellery from just outside the box. Corsham's number 10 was shown a straight red on 81 minutes for a punch on Lewis Parker after a midfield altercation before the dangerous Parker was brought down inside the box for a penalty which Joe Walters converted in the dying minutes. The final goal in added time was a beauty, Josh Williams turning on the edge of the box before curling a left foot shot towards the far upright, the keeper got a touch onto a post and as the ball dropped Matt Ellery followed up and knocked the ball home before it crossed the line (yes Josh, he did - his goal).

An impressive performance with some cool finishing and some good performances from the players. Southway and Gregory impressed at the back and unusually after a hat trick, well taken though it was by Trevarthen, the managers vote for player of the match was between Parker and Williams with the latter just shading it for his all round performance and goal.

Man of the Match: Josh Williams
