Oldland look to get back to winning ways at home to St Austell tomorrow (3pm).
The O's have suffered a number of defeats in recent weeks exiting both the FA Cup and the FA Vase and on Tuesday night a fairly young and inexperienced side put up a strong fight against highly fancied Paulton Rovers ultimately losing to a wonder strike midway through the first half but having many chances to equalise themselves. With a little more luck, at least a point could have been taken away.
Chairman Clayton Woodman commented: "If you look at who we have played in the early weeks we have had a pretty stiff start compared to others. Add to that the fact we had two or three 16, 17 and 18 year olds in Tuesday night's squad it demonstrates how stretched we are at the moment with by my reckoning at least eight missing from the squad who would make a massive difference, look at us again in a few weeks time and we will be a different team." Woodman is right and reflecting back on the past few results Manager Kris Miller added "On Tuesday we were without for example, Owen Lingard, Jack Mills, Casey Woodman, Chris Dacosta, Sasha Tong and long term injury loss Aaron Mansfield all of whom would have made a difference to the squad and helped the youngsters along. We keep going and have great hopes for the longer temr season but it's been a tough start."
On Saturday, bottom side St Austell make the long trip having also had a tough start. We wish them a safe journey and look forward to welcoming them and our supporters to Castle Road where the food hut and bar will be open from 12.30.
