Oldland gained a comprehensive victory in their first away friendly despite conceding three goals
On a cold but dry afternoon in Somerset, kick off was delayed whilst 'referees assistants' could be located. After that Oldland really flew out of the blocks and were two nil up early on. Firstly Josh Southway put over a deep cross and Josh Williams headed home and then moments later Courtney Charles fired home from just inside the box. After some further periods of fine play between the two sides, Jordan Greenwood stuck out a leg and tripped a forward as a cross came in low, the penalty went low into Luke Wilsons bottom corner to make it 2-1. The match continued to to and fro and the goals that came were stunning in some cases, first Josh Williams set up Joe Walters and then Glastonbury made it 3-2 with a magnificent 30 yard shot into the upright corner giving Wilson no chance.
In the second half, we were luck enough to snap another superb goal as a cross came over and Oldland No 9 Trevarthen headed home, he picked up a knock in the process and was replaced. Yet another great goal though and from the free kick (see pictures) a long range header was placed firmly into the net, 4-3 to Oldland. The goals got better and better - Greenwood hit a 40 yard diagonal pass to Jack Metcalfe who cut inside and fired home for 5-3. Garfield White replaced the ever improving Josh Williams and Reece John made way for Andy Summers who looked calm and composed in a defensive role after coming on.
In the final ten, "Tammy" Takeyo replaced Charles and Oldland continued to dominate, they could have had several more but closed the game with the goal of the match. Southway played a quick one two with Sham on the edge of the box, turned a defender with a flick and then slotted home - the whole crowd applauded.
Well done boys, away supporters happy - conceded a couple and still work to be done but looking good
