Oldland moved into the third round of the GFA Challenge Trophy after a tempestuous 3-2 win over Cheltenham Civil Service tonight.

The O's came from two goals down to level and in a bad tempered second half that saw two Cheltenham players sent off, Tyrone Fudgell hit a late winner to see off the challenge of their Gloucestershire County League opponents.

With injuries and suspensions around the first team squad, it was a much changed Oldland side that took the field for this cup tie. Four of the starting XI haven't played for the first team this season but there was experience on the bench should it be needed through the likes of Tyrone Fudgell, Ryan Dunn and David Stone.

Cheltenham got off to a good start and opened the scoring on ten minutes when Sonnie Burrows slotted home a cross in from the flank. Young striker Luke Soule thought he had equalised on thirty minutes but his "goal" was ruled out for offside and almost immediately, Cheltenham also saw a goal ruled out by a flag.

Adam Loveridge then made it 2-0 to the visitors but two minutes before half time, Matt Curnock pulled a goal back from the penalty spot to give his side hope. After the break, Oldland were denied a clear penalty when a Tommy Hutton shot clearly struck the hand of a Cheltenham defender but ref Mike Pope waved the appeals away.

As the clock ticked towards the seventy minute mark, Oldland were awarded a second penalty of the night in curious fashion. Initially, it looked like one Cheltenham defender had been penalised for the first challenge outside the box but after consulting his assistant nearby, the official pointed to the spot and gave a second yellow, and subsequent red, to the offending defender, Teejay Bick. Curnock stepped up once again and emphatically drove home the penalty to make it 2-2.

Referee Pope was in the midst of things again shortly after when he sent off another Cheltenham player, Andy Varnam for a second yellow card offence, thus reducing the Gloucestershire side to nine men for the final twenty minutes. Curnock went close to grabbing a hat trick with a curling shot that wouldn't quite curl enough.

With eight minutes left, Tyrone Fudgell found space in midfield and hit a low scorcher of a shot that found the bottom corner of the net to put his side 3-2 up. Hutton had the last chance for Oldland but drove his shot wide of goal late on.
