United's new signing Ricky Hulbert weighed in with two goals on his debut and Jordan Pinder added a penalty with Connor Davies' long range effort all that the O's could muster. The result lifts the Wiltshiremen into eleventh place and leaves Oldland in 18th position, six points off 21st placed Calne.
With Ashley Bernard, Cash Vinall & Danny Carter all missing, there were first team debuts for new signings Karl Finn in goal and Callum Hinder up front plus Jack Knowlson earned a start on the wing. There was also a place in the squad for Jason Luxton, from the reserves, who also signed up this week. The 13-man squad contained eight players aged 21 and under including five teenagers.
Hinder almost got his side off to a dream start on six minutes but his shot squirted wide of the near post but at the other end, Alex Robertson headed over his own bar after a Hulbert cross had looked like dipping in at the far post. Connor Davies twice had shots wide in a first twenty minutes that struggled to maintain any rhythim on a bobbly but good pitch and in a blustery wind.
Hinder again went close after Davies set him up with a good cross from the right channel but when the first goal arrived, it was at the other end on the counter. A cross from the Westbury right flank was superbly headed back across and into the corner by Hulbert for the opener.
Within sixty seconds though, Oldland had levelled through a shot from thirty yards by Davies for his second goal since rejoining the O's from Bitton.
Before half time, a huge free kick from keeper Kieran Ramsey found Jamie Jordan on the edge of the box and his curled effort came back off the face of the crossbar.
After the break, Hinder and Owen McCallum went close and Finn denied Hulbert with a blocked save at the near post. Westbury then took the lead just after the hour mark when Finn clattered into Hulbert in the penalty box. Ref Andrew Hobbs had a simple decision to make for the penalty and Jordan Pinder slotted home for 2-1.
In the final quarter of the match, Westbury always looked more like adding a third than Oldland did to equalise with Hulbert shooting wide and Leon Greenwood testing Finn from point blank range. But the hosts then wrapped the game up on 82 minutes when Hulbert sprang the offside trap, rounded Finn and made sure of a dream start for his new club by scoring his second and Westbury's third.
Westbury march on with their sixth win in a row and the games don't get any easier for Oldland with Hengrove Athletic next up on Wednesday night, having won ten games in a row, scoring thirty and conceding only three. Kick off is at 7.30pm at Castle Road.
