Oldland Abbots scored three goals for the fifth consecutive match but had to be satisfied with a point at home to Ashton & Backwell.

In an enthralling match at Castle Road, the lead changed hands three times with a red card, two penalties and six goals thrown in as well but at the final whistle, both sides ended up with a point apiece. The result sees Oldland drop down a place to 17th after Chippenham Park's win at Wincanton.

Managers David Stone & Josh Dempsey made just one change to the starting eleven that drew 3-3 at Devizes Town last week. Gary Shorney replaced Lewis Parker at left back, Parker moving forward to cover the absent Connor Davies.

Aaron Allen put Ashton ahead halfway through the first half but Oldland equalised on 35 minutes. Danny Carter was clattered into by Ashton keeper Lewis Coombes with ref Nigel Fisher awarding a penalty, Parker converting it past Coombes.

It took until the 65th minute before the next goal and again Parker was involved, this time his corner was met by Ashley Bernard's volley, the defender scoring his first goal of the campaign. Parity was soon restored though when Sam Skidmore equalised on seventy minutes and when Allen grabbed his second, and Ashton's third, with a minute left, it looked like O's were heading for their first defeat since 17th December.

But after a second penalty was given to Oldland in stoppage time, an incident that saw an Ashton player dismissed, Parker stepped up to save his side a point with his second of the afternoon.

Next up for Oldland is the longest trip of the season to Wellington, who dropped two points yesterday in a 1-1 draw at Roman Glass St George.
