Oldland scored three goals for the fourth game running but had to settle for a share of the spoils against Devizes Town today.

After a nightmare start that saw the O's two down inside six minutes, the dismissal of Devizes' Jack Hopper turned the game in Oldland's favour with Owen McCallum and Ryan Dunn (pictured) equalising. A scrambled third for Devizes was then cancelled out by a late Connor Davies penalty as the game ended three apiece.

With some rough weather this week just gone, it was a decent looking pitch at Nursteed Road that greeted the two sides. Oldland, in form after three successive wins but not having played for three weeks, made three changes with suspended Josh Dempsey making way for Ollie Fowler and Cash Vinall & Jordan Richards replacing Gary Shorney and Wayne Pearce.

The visitors almost grabbed the earliest of leads when Connor Davies crossed and the defender did well not to turn it into his own net. But from that scare, Devizes settled quickly and were soon two goals to the good. Firstly, a cross from the left flank was headed home by an unmarked Robbie Mitchell in the box before Jamie Walters pounced from close range after a shot was saved.

Both sides created chances but in an a decidedly average first half, Oldland's accuracy was missing with Ashley Bernard, Davies and Ryan Dunn all wayward. Dunn also had a free kick blocked and Vinall couldn't quite stretch to convert a cross from Danny Carter.

Jack Hopper then earned his first yellow on 50 minutes for a foul on David Stone then just five minutes later, saw a second yellow and subsequent red after an incident on the far side of the pitch. No sooner had Hopper left the pitch then Oldland grabbed a foothold in the match. Carter's superb ball through the defence found Owen McCallum and his delicate chip over Martin Mitchell in the Devizes goal found the net.

Richards went close with a header on 64 minutes from a corner before O's scored their second to level the score on 68 minutes. McCallum drove in a left footer from outside the box which was saved but in the ensuing kerfuffle, Ryan Dunn got his chest to the ball and forced it over the line from close range.

O's had their tails up now and Davies poked wide after Carter had again set his team mate up but with 77 minutes on the clock, it looked like Devizes had won it; this time it was Walters who got in ahead of the keeper to score from close in. Oldland however had the last word though when ref Greg Wentland awarded a penalty to the visitors after Carter was brought down in the box. Davies finished well into the corner to set up a tense finale but despite five minutes of stoppage time, neither team could gain an advantage so had to settle for a point apiece.

Back to Castle Road next Saturday for Oldland who entertain Ashton & Backwell. Kick off is at 3.00pm.
