Almondsbury, lying rock bottom of the league, were eventually sunk by an own goal and a second from sub David Stone to grab all three points late on. The win maintains Oldland's 18th place position in the table.
Manager David Stone rang the changes with eight alterations to the team that were beaten 4-0 by Hengrove on Wednesday night. The entire back four was different with Ryan Dunn, Ashley Bernard, Jordan Richards and Lewis Parker coming in. Alex Robertson dropped to the bench, Gary Shorney moved into midfield and John Scorrer & Gerard Robinson missed out.
Further forward, the likes of Matt McCall, Connor Davies and Danny Carter were also out with David Saffa, Callum Hinder, Jason Side and Owen McCallum coming in and Stone giving himself a place on the bench.
The first half didn't see much in the way of action with visiting keeper Chris Coles making one fine save but the second half was much improved with the O's looking far better. It took until the 85th minute though for the deadlock to be broken when an Almondsbury defender put through his own net and then almost immediately, Parker crossed for Stone to finish the game off.
A valuable win for the hosts who could have been looking nervously over their shoulders had they not taken full points. With Welton winning and Corsham taking a point too, these three points may well be regarded as vital come the end of season shake up.
Next for the O's is a rare Friday night game at Bishop Sutton, kick off at 7.45pm.
