Oldand's winless run continued despite a much improved performance as they went down by a single goal to Bishops Lydeard.

Charlie Wilson's 80th minute strike separated the two sides after a one sided encounter had seen Lydeard keeper Nathan Whatley play a blinder, making several good saves to keep his side in it.

Oldland went into the game on the back of four successive league defeats and once again, rang the changes from the previous starting XI, the defeat to Cadbury Heath in the Les Phillips Cup. Josh Dempsey dropped back into his more familiar goalkeeping position, replacing Craig Beavis. Also missing were Ashley Bernard, Jason Side, Tyrone Fudgell and Lewis Parker and they were replaced by Sam Hippisley, Gary Shorney, Cash Vinall, Tom Morgan and Matt Curnock, who was returning from a one game ban.

The pattern of the game was set as early as the first five minutes when Tom Morgan had three chances to score but didn't, two denied by the keeper while he shot over after a neat David Stone free kick. Wilson pulled a shot well wide inbetween the Morgan chances but it was a rare effort in a first half dominated by the home side.

Gary Shorney shot over, Morgan stabbed wide after a good piece of work with Tom Welling and Shorney's second shot lacked power too as the chances mounted up for Oldland. It was Shorney's final work of the game as he went off injured, replaced by teenager Owen McCallum who himself hit a first time volley that Whatley spilled, Morgan's follow up also saved.

Centre back Jordan Richards was next to miss a chance, volleying over from Stone's corner and the O's then hit the post from close range as the half closed.

Zac Ryder went close early in the second half for the Bishops with a free header from a corner and they had a second chance on goal shortly after when Mark Cornish was denied by Dempsey down low. Play switched back to the other end though quickly and Morgan set up both Cash Vinall and McCallum but both youngsters saw Whatley save their efforts.

Whatley was called upon again to save from Morgan with his feet and Stone's back post cross floated close past the back post. Curnock then set up Tom Welling who beat his man well and unleashed a shot that flew past the far post.

It's always the case that a side can be made to pay for missing their chances when the opposition snatch a late goal and so it proved. A diagonal cross field ball from left back to right wing found Charlie Wilson and he took one touch before hammering a shot across Dempsey and into the far corner of the goal.

The last ten minutes plus stoppage time passed with no further chances for either side; the only incident being a second yellow card for handball to Lydeard's Zac Ryder who trudged off the pitch with four minutes remaining.

Oldland now move on to Portishead on Tuesday night, the first of four consecutive away league matches.
