Oldland exited the Les Phillips Cup after this 3-1 defeat at local rivals Cadbury Heath.

The Heath were two ahead at half time through prolific front pair Simon McElroy and Matt Huxley and although Jason Side pulled a goal back with little over twenty minutes left, Heath missed a penalty before adding a third through George Boon on 85 minutes. Heath now have a home tie against Hengrove Athletic to look forward to on 19th November.

After Saturday's 3-2 win over Cheltenham Civil Service in the GFA Trophy, Oldland made five changes to their starting eleven. Out went Ollie Fowler, Charlie Brain, Matt Curnock, Luke Soule and Tommy Hutton, with the latter two named on the bench. In came Josh Dempsey, Craig Beavis, David Stone, Ryan Dunn and Ashley Bernard, the captain.

Oldland were all too aware of the goal threat posed to them by the twin Cadbury strike force of Simon McElroy and Matt Huxley. The former scored a hat trick the season before last in a 3-0 win at his previous club Almondsbury while Huxley boasted a tremendous scoring record during his time at Castle Road.

With 26 minutes of the game gone, it was perhaps no surprise that both strikers had scored. McElroy struck first, finishing from close in after a good cross from the flank and Huxley then curled a beauty into the top right hand corner to make it 2-0. Both men have now scored eighteen times this season already!

Oldland improved after a break before conceding a penalty on 64 minutes, Huxley this time proving he is human by grazing the crossbar with his spot kick. Three minutes later, Oldland pulled a goal back when Jason Side scored his first of the season to give O's hope. But with five minutes left, George Boon rammed home a decisive third to win the match.

Oldland this Saturday will host Bishops Lydeard on a special reunion day at Castle Road, kick off at 3.00pm.
