The first half was goalless with Oldland having more of the chances. Ali Bamford and Gary Shorney were both wide with volleys while Tyrone Fudgell forced a save from the visiting keeper late on in the half.
After the break, when Yate made several changes to their lineup, Oldland took advantage and hit Yate with a double whammy, scoring two superb goals within four minutes. The first goal came ten minutes into the half with Scott Robson flicking the ball to Matt Curnock; the midfielder controlled, move forward and chipped the keeper from 25 yards into the far corner.
The second goal came just before the hour mark and again, Robson was the architect. He laid the ball back to Ashley Bernard who had moved up from the back and the centre half rammed home a scorcher into the bottom corner of the net.
Robson thought he had added a third when he latched on to a headed pass from Gary Shorney and chipped the keeper but he was denied by an incorrect offside flag.
Yate's best chances came late on. With twelve minutes remaining, Jordan Greenwood headed brilliantly off the line to deny a goalbound shot; then on 84 minutes, a cross from the right was headed against the crossbar and cleared to safety.
Late on, Bernard nearly added a spectacular second, and Oldland's third with an Ibra-type bicycle kick but his effort ended up well wide of goal.
That marks the end of Oldland's warm up fixtures with four wins, a draw and a defeat in their six games. Thank you for all your support and we hope to see you at Castle Road next Saturday for the season opener against Newport IW in the FA Cup extra preliminary round, 3pm kickoff.
