After several games of multiple changes forced through unavailability, O's boss Dale Dempsey made just two alterations to the side that lost 2-0 at home to Cheddar on Saturday. Josh Williams pictured) came in for Cash Vinall while Tom Morgan deputised for the suspended Josh Dempsey.
And it was Josh who put Oldland into the lead inside the first quarter of an hour, a period which saw Oldland dominate the game without adding further goals. Both Scott Robson and Tom Morgan went into the referee's notebook before the break.
After half time, Scott Robson and Morgan went close before the O's doubled their advantage on 58 minutes. Lewis Parker's run into the area was interrupted by a lunging tackle from the side, ref Jack Bonnick awarding a penalty. David Stone coolly sent keeper Matt Semple the wrong way from the spot.
Jack Parker's flying run down the left flank ended with the winger flashing a shot across goal, his last taste of action before being replaced by striker Karim Rendall.
A free kick that was eventually turned in by sub Dan Green offered John Black's side a brief glimmer of hope but immediately, Oldland returned to imposing themselves on their visitors and Rendall twice went close before finally wrapping the game up on the 80 minute mark. Morgan's perfect through ball sprang the offside trap and Rendall slotted past Semple to make it 3-1.
The match had been played in a reasonable spirit throughout but with eight minutes remaining, Jordan Greenwood and Daniel Dunt tangled innocuously near the byline as Dunt shepherded the ball out for a goal kick. Both men earned a yellow card but in Dunt's case, it was a second yellow so Almondsbury played out the remainder of the game with ten men.
