A goal in the closing moments of each half gave Oldland a superb 2-0 win at promotion chasing Cheddar today.

David Stone's penalty on 43 minutes gave the O's the lead at a good time in the game and Tom Morgan's stoppage time strike sealed all three points for Dale Dempsey's side. The victory means the O's move up to fourth in the table with their seventh league clean sheet of the season ahead of next week's clash with Corsham Town.

The manager was forced into changing the side that came home with a 3-0 win from Chard on Wednesday night. Nathan Bell and Ali Bamford were unavailable so in came Ryan Dunn and Josh Williams. It meant that Paul Coles continued up front alongside Tom Morgan with David Stone content with a berth in midfield.

Oldland created the first chances of the game but Stone's free kick sailed wide and Morgan's shot was saved by Mike Dangerfield in the Cheddar goal. Ryan Dunn collected a yellow card on eleven minutes, an incident that was to be important later on in the game.

A shot from Paul Coles was deflected for a corner before Josh Dempsey got down well to deny Adam Jones an opener on twenty minutes. Jones looked particularly dangerous throughout the first half and had the ball in the net on the half hour but the flag had long since gone up for offside.

Danny Griffiths headed wide from a corner and Dunn was in the perfect position to clear another effort off the line as Cheddar tried to make their home advantage count. It was far from one way traffic though. Morgan fired what looked to be a spectacular opener but the referee had blown for handball as Morgan controlled it.

Jack Parker then found space in the left channel and sent in a rasping shot that came off the bar. The third "goal" in six minutes to be ruled out came on 37 minutes when Cheddar committed a foul in the build up before a smart volley found the net. But finally, the deadlock was broken two minutes from half time when Jack Parker's burst into the box was ended by a foul from right back Craig Mawford. David Stone stepped up to take the penalty and sent Dangerfield the wrong way for his sixth goal in eight games.

The game continued to be pretty open after the interval. Coles, man of the match for his tireless running all afternoon, sliced a shot wide and then was desperately unlucky not to get more than the faintest of touches to Parker's low teasing cross. Coles then set up strike partner Morgan but his left foot shot thumped off the underside of the bar agonisingly.

With such a slender lead, Oldland were always vulnerable to a counter attack and Callum Ham tested Dempsey with a snap shot and Chris Coombes sent a shot wide. Coles and Morgan replied with shots in return before Oldland were reduced to ten men with thirteen minutes left when Dunn tripped a Cheddar attacker.

Mark Armstrong went close late on for the Cheesemen who then conceded in stoppage time. Sub Tom Hutton had only been on for five minutes when his superb pass through the heart of the Cheddar defence found Morgan in space. The striker coolly slooted home to send the noisy Oldland contingent home happy with all three points. It was Morgan's twelfth goal of the season and as a result, the O's climb into fourth place in the league above Chipping Sodbury on goal difference.
