The Colts started their first league game at Lees Hill on Tuesday night. Here is Corporal Jones match report
Going into our first game was always going to be tricky not knowing what the opposition are about but the lads can not be faulted by the result!
Before Starting this team, myself Tom and Colin have always said it’s going to take a few games to feed the 18s slowly in and to mould together as a team. Winning 4-2 with 10 minutes to go to draw 4-4 is always hard to take and I probably take such things the hardest as I’ll be thinking about result at work all day the next day (sad I know!) .
Credit to the lads Tuesday night their work rate commitment and energy levels have been first class ever since we set this third team up and I think we were hard done by Tuesday night but the promising thing is the 18s who put in a solid performance and will only get better as the season progresses! We played some good football at times and the passing and moving was good in spells but we just fell short in some decision making and trying to do too much on the ball in the wrong places! I would just like to mentioned our 4th goal scored by Alex Robertson and the link up play between himself and Dom parish (under 18s) as the stand out of the night. Was really good to see, lets hope Wes wasn't watching!
The Colts go again today against Westerleigh where they look to get 3 points on the board and even 48 year old Colin Towler might even get a run out !
