Following the conclusion of discussions with the relevant football authorities, we are delighted to officially announce the appointment of Jay Powell as First Team Manager ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
We received a number of strong applications for the vacant position, which was extremely encouraging, however after a thorough recruitment process, we felt that Jay was the outstanding candidate and the best fit for the role at our club
The club has recently taken time to reassess and reset, and we believe Jay is the ideal person to help drive us forward and achieve our long-term objectives. It is a journey that everyone associated with the club is excited to be part of.
Jay brings a wealth of experience, having spent many seasons as both a manager and coach. Most recently, he was part of the coaching team at Hallen during their impressive FA Vase run and has also held key roles at Bitton AFC, where he helped deliver success both on and off the pitch.
Recognised for his tactical versatility and strong connections throughout Bristol and the surrounding region, Jay is a highly respected and ambitious manager who understands the work ethic, commitment, and standards required to help and drive success at our club long into the future.
Jay's Comments "It’s a huge honour to manage this football club. I’m here to win, and that’s exactly what we’ll be working towards. We already have a great foundation to build from, and it’s an exciting time for both myself and this fantastic club."
Jay has a proven track record of bringing fresh ideas to the training ground and is highly regarded for his player development, organisation, and leadership from the touchline.
Jay has also moved quickly to appoint Josh Nelson as his Assistant Manager.
Josh commented "I’m really excited to be joining the management team at Oldland this year while also continuing to play. I’m looking forward to learning a lot from Jay, who I know is a driven, knowledgeable manager and someone who will be fully dedicated to the club. I’ll be giving everything I have too, and together we’re hoping to bring plenty of success to Oldland this season."
We would like to welcome both Jay and Josh to their new roles and wish them every success for the upcoming season and beyond.
Good luck, gents—we’re all behind you.
Up the 'O's!
