A sad loss to the local game

Everyone at Oldland is saddened to hear the news that Bishop Sutton Life President and Secretary Malcolm Hunt has passed away this week.

Having moved there in 1963, Malcolm and George Williams brought football back to the village in 1977 after more than 20 years, taking over the field that was to become the Lakeside ground from Wansdyke District Council and converting into a football pitch. The two then later converted an old school room on the ground into changing rooms that still stands and has been added to as the clubhouse and have been a major part in the football activities there ever since. Malcolm and George are two of the best known faces in local football.

He passed away after a short battle with cancer and as the Bishop Sutton club statement says he played a massive part in the club for 43 years and will be hugely missed by all.

Our condolences from Oldland to all at Sutton and to Malcolm's family.
