Oldland face a reunion on Saturday when former O legend (his words) Martin Wilmott is coming down from Glasgow and attending the game against Tytherington Rocks.

Having lived up top for many years, Martin regularly watches the famous blue team that plays in that City (I think that's right) and we look forward to seeing him again.

He has made arrangements with both Steve's Painter and Pruett and hopefully a few more of his old team mates will pop down to see him, maybe even lend him a few english pounds so that he can get in and buy a proper beer.

To those that don't know, Martin was captain back in the day and as an example of his dedication to the club here is a genuine Mirror article from 1998:

SOCCER fanatic Martin Willmott drives 500 miles a week to play for an amateur football team.

Salesman Martin joined his local Bristol club at 17 and was determined to continue playing for them when he moved to London. He now makes a five-hour round trip every Saturday to turn out for Oldland FC. He also does a midweek dash along the M4 for evening matches - leaving work early and not getting home until 1am.

Martin, 29, said: "I look forward to it all week. When I moved I knew it would be harder to get to games but I didn't want to play for a London side."

The midfielder of Surbiton, Surrey, added: "It's gruelling and there have been times when I wonder if I am going to get there in time. But I have only missed a couple of games due to traffic."

Manager Ian Hyett said: "He is a great player."
