After a great Friday night opening fixture with a crowd of over 100 in attendance club members waited in anticipation to show off their weeks of hard work tidying up the club and ground to the next generation, our first weekend of mini-kickers introducing 3-6 year olds to fun training sessions at the club.
Sadly though, the local youths had been out in force again and the junior pitches/play area was covered in discarded beer and spirit empties, food wrappers, pizza boxes and more strewn everywhere. It's such a shame and despite a regular hotline to the beat police nothing seems possible to stop it. All we can do is ask local parents, if your 15, 16 or 17 year old is "going down the park" on an evening (especially Fridays it seems) have a think about what they might be getting up to or pop down and have a look. Perhaps with your help we can put a stop to it as every Saturday morning seems to be time to tidy up for us.
Moan over, and thanks to the parents who brought their youngsters down we hope you enjoyed the session anyway and we hope to see you in future weeks. We will continue trying to put something on for the local community and being a club that people want to come to.
