Oldland Abbotonians exited at the group stages of the annual Bill Holloway six-a-side tournament at Longwell Green this afternoon.

The O's managed one win, one draw and one defeat in their three games but went out on goal difference to the host side, Longwell Green.

Dale Dempsey's eight man squad were tested early on with a fixture against last season's Division One champions Bradford Town and went down by a single goal to the Wiltshire side.

Match two saw the O's face their hosts who had beaten Pensford )Longwell Green Youth) 7-1 in their first match. Ryan Nicholls' fantastic solo run and fierce shot gave O's the lead and he then hit the post with a near identical effort two minutes later, Josh Dempsey hitting the follow up at the keeper. Longwell then also hit the woodwork before Dempsey grabbed a real poachers goal to make it 2-0. The home side pulled a goal back but O's took the match 2-1.

The third game saw the O's take on Pensford knowing only a win would be good enough to progress into the knockout stages. Pensford took the lead before Dempsey equalised and after they fell behind again, Lucas Hart levelled for a second time. Pushing for the winner, Dempsey hit the crossbar late on which sealed only a draw for Oldland who go out on goal difference.
