Sherborne 2 Oldland 3
A thriller down South!
Oldland grabbed victory at the death in an exciting match that had everything, including late goals. The victory moves the O's up one place from 4th to 3rd as the impressive season start continues. A terrific victory on the road.
Oldland were forced into some squad changes being without suspended Jordan Grenwood, injured Olly Trevarthen and absent Lewis Parker. Danny Carter, Takayo Nembhard and Bradley Lewis stepping up from the Reserves to go on the bench. Joe Walters and Shomari Sengor continued in midfield after impressing in midweek whilst Matt Ellery got a well deserved start after some impressive substitute appearances and goals from the bench and Ashley Bernard started at the back.
Sherborne were one up at half time through a Vandervell headed goal on 40 minutes and a man down after the dismissal of Aaron West. Danny Carter came off the bench in the 44 minute to replace injured Courtney Charles, who sadly ended up in hospital on Sunday as a result of his injury.
In the second half, Oldland equalised through a Luke Lecrass goal on 60 minutes, before Josh Williams made it 2-1 on 71. Oldland were playing well, the midfield was buzzing and the crowd settled back - it looked like Oldland would hang on for victory but then things went a bit crazy (again, just like Tuesday - good job our fans stay until the end!). Sherborne pulled a goal back right on 90 minutes before, 17 year old Takayo Nembhard who had only replaced Matt Ellery on 84 minutes, netted a 94th minute winner for Oldland.
A fantastic victory and another good performance, after the disappointment and frustration of last Tuesday. Well done to the squad for digging in - we go again at Chippenham Park (hopefully with video coverage) on Tuesday night.
Good effort lads!
