Mangotsfield 5-3 Blues
By Kevin Wichard
Spirited display despite loss
With the bare 11 players, no recognised Goalkeeper and numerous players carrying injuries, the Blues put up a spirited display this afternoon.
Knowing they would be put under pressure, the Blues did well showing strength and character. After conceding just before halftime, the boys welcomed the 5 minute break and came off feeling positive.
The 2nd half kicked off with Mangoes scoring their second shortly after the whistle. With the coaches urging them on, Josh Grey
scored a well taken goal to half the deficit.
With fatigue kicking in, the Blues found themselves 5-1 down with 20 minutes to play. With Mangoes full of confidence, it would of been easy for the boys to give up......they didn’t.
With nothing to lose, they upped their game, pushed forward and started to outplay the opponents. Harrison Isaacs
, showing passion and determination, cut in from the right and unleashed an unstoppable shot from 30 yards to start the comeback. With the parents and coaches support, urging the Blues to push forward, Harrison Isaacs
scored again with another long range effort that Mangoes goalkeeper fumbled into his own net.
The Blues confidence increased and more opportunities were created, exactly what the coaches have craved for.
With the final score being 5-3, both parents and coaches applauded their display.
MOM was awarded to Harrison Isaacs
. Like all the boys today, he never gave up and deserved his two goals.
