Blues 2-3 Mangoes
So close yet so far
A determined performance by the Blues today nearly ended with the 1st points of the season they crave so much.
Missing both central defenders didn’t help but the boys worked well with Harrison Isaacs
and Ben Darke
deputising as makeshift central defenders.
Having Blake Thornell
back in the squad made a huge difference and his partnership with George Slavin
in midfield was impressive.
After 15 minutes, Josh Grey
scored the 1st goal of the game. After great work by Stefan Mills
, his fantastic through ball led to Josh finishing with a fine shot across the face of goal.
Not long after, Oli Box
scored a 2nd goal with a fantastic long range effort from 30 yards.
Confidence was high and although concededing shortly before halftime, the blues were confident going into the 2nd half.
Both teams gave everything after the break but history began repeating itself when Mangoes scored twice to take the lead.
The Blues continued to press for goal and Jack Moore
was close to earning a point in the last minute, but his strike went just wide of the post.
Although recent results haven’t gone the right way, the Blues continue to play great football and manager Simon Isaac enthasised this at the end of the game.
MOM today was awarded day was awarded to Harrison Isaacs
. Although not his favoured position, it was one of his strongest displays.
