Mangoes 5 - 3 Oldland Abbotonians Blues
By Kevin Wichard
Great game, disappointing result
Knowing Mangoes from last season, the Blues went into today’s game with high hopes of getting their first points of the season.
After a poor start, the Blues found themselves a goal down due to some lacklustre challenges. After conceding a second shortly after, the Blues finally woke up and started to play football. After winning a free kick 30 yards out, Oli Box
decided to go for goal. His effort was nothing less than brilliant and he hit it with venom into the top left corner, leaving the Mangoes keeper no chance to save.
The second half started well and within 10 minutes, the scores were even. Oli Box
swung in a corner to the far post for Josh Grey
to poke home.
The Blues were back in the game and continue to press for winner. Unfortunately, like previous games the more the Blues pressed forward, Mangoes hit us on the counter attack.
Mangoes managed to score three more goals which left the blues deflated.
Joe Palmer managed to score a consolation goal after great determination to pressurise the Mangoes defence and slotting past the Mangoes keeper.
Man of the match today was Oli Box
. His work rate, his assist and terrific free kick was a highlight of today’s game.
