BRISTOL CENTRAL U16 2 OLDLAND COLTS U16 0
Oldland Colts were beaten by two goals to nil by Bristol Central in their penultimate match of the season this afternoon.
The Colts were missing skipper Charlie Thompson through a broken hand and Donaldo Miezu because of illness.
After several weeks of postponed matches in February, it was a rock hard, sun baked pitch at Whitehall Playing Fields for the game against one of the under rated sides in the division; a tough, dogged team who always seem to present a problem.
Josh Abrahams went close with an effort that went just wide and as per usual, the Colts were grateful to Ollie Slade for a good save early on. But on 26 minutes, the keeper was helpless to stop a direct free kick from way out on the left flank from going in.
He then made a great double save to keep the score at only 1-0, a position that always offered the Colts hope that they could sneak an equaliser. But in truth, they rarely forced the Central keeper into anything more testing than routine saves. At the other end, chances were whizzing right, left and over the bar as Central threatened often but it was just after the halfway point in the second half that they added a second, with another angled shot from the left.
The Colts finish their season on Wednesday night with a home game against Severnside at Tennis Court Road, kick off at 6.30pm.
