A word from the Director

As Oldland prepare for a crunch FA Vase home game against Almondsbury Town today we caught up with Director of Football Paul Weeks for his views.

"Good afternoon to you all and Welcome

Our focus today is away from our League Campaign as we play our first tie in this year's FA Vase competition, vs Almondsbury FC.

Following the midweek game vs Hengrove, perhaps this tie has come at a good time, presenting the boys with an opportunity to 'reset' from the league fixtures in what has been an intense, but excellent start to the Season

I am sure Darren, Will and Lee would have put their disappointment to one side going into this game.... and the boys will be determined to get things back on track by winning the tie to progress into the next round.

With the aspiration we have as a club both on and off the field, this cup competition provides a platform to help put us on the football map both in region and nationally - a good Vase run always goes a long way to help us succeed and achieve a better status as a football club... Welcomed prize money can be obtained also, so the boys are today playing as fee earners for our club! Please remember this boys!

Speaking with the management team after the Hengrove game and result clearly, we are all disappointed, but we find ourselves having to manage expectations at the club so early in the season. We just need keep focusing on the achieving the right attitude, work rate, determination to win and togetherness, going into and during each fixture and with the team we have in depth things should take care of itself.

We set ourselves a very ambitious target of 2 points a game at the start of the season which usually provides a points tally that will equal success in any league, but to achieve 29 points from a potential 36 points is nothing short of excellent! - we targeted 24 points to date, so we are way ahead and have supersede current expectations for sure.

We all have a part to play to ensure success for our club, so get behind the boys, enjoy the game, which should be very competitive, and we will see you in the bar!"
