Trimming the numbers

We have had a massive change and recruitment drive during the summer and of the twenty five players currently registered on Toolstation forms for 2017/18, eighteen are new to us this season. With the increased number of bodies at training and only a certain number of places up for grabs it was inevitable that some players would move on. Here we take a look at some of those who have left this summer.

Gary Shorney has signed for Hengrove Athletic having only featured briefly in pre season friendlies, where he debuted for them at right back last Saturday. A popular, versatile squad player we wish Gary and his family, who were regular supporters, well and hope to see them soon. Another ex-Oldland player, Tom Morgan, who was last playing local football for Seymour United, has joined him at Hengrove - although we hear he was booked in his first 15 minute substitute appearance for them last week!

Josh Dempsey has departed on dual registration forms for Bristol Manor Farm and RG St George whilst his co-manager last year David Stone is now player manager at Bishop Sutton. Alex Robertson one of last year's Under 18s who started 6 first team games for us last season has joined him to try his luck there.

Finally, we can advise that with his squad taking shape and things settling down, Scott has released striker Garfield White from the club and is looking for a replacement to provide competition up front for Olly and Courtney, whilst Takayo and Danny Carter seek full fitness. We do have real strength in depth though with both Mason Poole and Ashley Bernard only just fully available for selection consideration and will not struggle for number this season.

A big welcome to the new players and all our best wishes to those that have sought a fresh start.
