Everyone at Oldland would like to congratulate and wish every success to one of our young players, goalkeeper Matthew Martin who is progressing into a higher standard of football for his development, very richly deserved.
Tommy Hutton Youth Vice-Chairman and Coach of the Under 13s commented "I would like to congratulate Matthew on signing a 2 year contract with Bristol City FC. On behalf of Oldland Abbotonians FC I would like to wish him all the luck in the world on his journey into academy football."
Matt played an important part between the sticks in helping Oldland Under 12s win the Avon Youth league last season. Hutton added "Over the last couple of seasons I have seen Matt grow in confidence and become one of the best shot stoppers in Bristol. It’s been a pleasure in coaching such a lovely young man and seeing him take so well to the sweeper keeper role we encouraged him to play. In Matt signing we have also lost two great parents in Chris and Sue and I know they are as proud of Matt as I am."
Good luck Matt and we wish you all the best - you have certainly left some big gloves to fill
